Friday finds: converted farmhouse in Sweden

Its been a while, but I am back blogging! In the last couple of months a lot of things happened in my life. I am choosing a new path and feel good about it.  Blogging about things I love (interior design, styling, architecture) is something I really like and now that I have lots of ideas and energy I want to start again!

Lets start with this lovely converted farmhouse in Sweden. Its the home of Daniella and Fredrik and their kids. Daniella worked for IKEA for years, which you can clearly see in the choice of furniture. The color palette reminds me of my own home, lots of white and grey combined with natural materials. Look at the rough wall in the dining/living, giving the black and white room a warm feel. Add  to that a herringbone floor, mix and match chairs, black and white picture frames and pretty subtle styling..et voila…its not that hard to create a beautiful living space! What do you think?

Friday finds: inspired by fashion

I really like how some fashion trends are visible in home decor too. Trends in fashion definitely seem to inspire home decor trends. Since I love both, I searched for some items to bring my favorite fashion trends  (oxblood red, sequins and denim) to the living room! While searching online for some inspiration for a new winter wardrobe, I ran into the H&M home section and found this lovely new dotted cushion in the fashion color of this year oxblood red! Love the dotted plaid in grey as well.

Another trend in fashion is the use of sequins and metallics. I especially like this trend when used in a subtle way, on a simple sweater for example. Bring this trend to your home with these cushions by West Elm!

Always in fashion is denim, but this season even denim on denim is hot again.  I have seen the denim trend in interiors and furniture for quite a while now, but in particular love the use of denim in rugs (see below by West Elm and Anthropology). Denim gives these rugs a special texture and lovely color pattern. I think they will look lovely on a white wooden floor as well. What do you think about these trends? Are there any trends in fashion you would like to bring to your home?

Sunday special: summer house

This beautiful small summerhouse of stylist Sidsel Zachariassen brings back the summer a bit for me. Love the the use of different shades of green and grey both inside and outside,  turning the house and the garden into one big living space.
